Albert Thomas Cliff was born in Lodgepole, Montana and raised on the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation by his parents Thomas Cliff and Olivia Brisbo among a large family of fourteen. Albert married Ramona Ann Striker and raised two sons Alan Cliff and Bernie Cliff. They left the Fort Belknap reservation on the Indian Relocation program moving to Los Angeles, California where Albert worked with Bethlehem Steel as a laborer. Bernie Cliff was born in South Gate, California and then they left back to Fort Belknap after their second son's birth with Alan Cliff to raise a family. Albert began in construction as a laborer first at Hungry Horse Dam outside of Kalispel, Montana and he continued to work as a laborer until becoming a union carpenter/welder at many dam projects in the Pacific Northwest and New York. Albert was the elder of the Blue Mountain's Sun Dance Society helping to build and maintain the sundance lodge. Albert gave his experience and knowledge to the sundance and the Red Road to many generations of people. Albert had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and also many sundance family relations during the sundance and at home. He traveled to many other Indian reservations with his spouse Ramona when she worked as a social worker for B.I.A and Alaskan Natives on their small villages and urban Alaskan Native rights. Ramona Ann Cliff was a cofounder of the Indian Child Welfare Act of 1976 which helped tribes to maintain their cultural integrity and protect their native children from neglect and abuse. After Ramona passed in December 2007 Albert continued to show his support for his family and sundance community. He was preceded in death by his primary family except an older sister who lives in Malta, Montana Rusty Campbell. Albert is survived by Alan Cliff and Bernie Cliff whom continue to carry his dream and as he said, "Keep the circle going, a lot of people are relying on us for guidance and prayer." Albert Thomas Cliff affected many generations of people along with their four nations which gives everyone hope for good prayers and guidance with words of hope for the future.
