Alice was born in Dryden Washington to Jake and Leah Cook. She was the first in her family to get a high school diploma and went on to finish cosmetology school. She met Alvin Ira Barnhart (Barney) and they were married in Wenatchee Washington on 1953. The family, Alice, Barney and Shelley, moved to Moses Lake in 1955. They worked hard and played hard. They partied often and had a huge circle of friends. They were blessed with one grandson, Glen, who was their pride and joy. Sadly, Barney passed in 1983, leaving Alice to finish her life without her best friend. After Barney passed, Alice's friend Marie Oronia shared her slightly larger family with her. She became Grandma Alice to Marie's children, Mari, Angelica, and Joaquin. She loved them like her own to the end. In 2000 she moved in with her family. They moved from Moses Lake to Uniontown, and then on to Tri Cities where she lived with Glen and Ted for a couple years before moving to Tri Cities Retirement Inn in Pasco in 2012. Alice loved her apartment and enjoyed the company of her many friends she had there. She went to Lunch Brunch, shopping day and the occasional trip to the casino. Her squirrels were well fed, and fat as little pigs. She did puzzles, read books, crocheted played in, and often won, the football pool (picking every game against the spread). She will be missed by many. She will be laid to rest beside Barney in E. Wenatchee. As per her request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, please visit a senior center near you.
