Alice Colleen Brooks, 75, passed away Jan. 20, 2023, in Kennewick. She was born Nov. 22, 1947, in Ontario, OR to Ray and Mary Ellen Kinion. The crazy Kinions moved to the area in 1960. She graduated from Pasco High School in 1965 and attended Eastern Washington University.

Alice spent many years in apartment and mobile home management, in both the Tri-Cities and Sacramento, CA. Many remember her time managing Cherry Hill, where she knew every tenant by their lot number and made sure the rules were followed. As a family, that meant we had many family parties at the Clubhouse. She also spent time as a correctional officer and receptionist. We often referred to her as the "Mafia Mom," though she had no criminal connections, but she kept the family (and Cherry Hill) in line from her chair at the head of the table.

In retirement, she enjoyed woodworking, painting, diamond point, volunteering with her daughters and (s)mothering her granddaughter Kennedy. She had an affinity for some interesting TV shows – including M.A.S.H., Golden Girls, The Voice, Dr. Pimple Popper, Survivor and Lone Star Law. Alice loved traveling, including time in Germany in her 20's, two family Alaskan cruises, countless camping trips and several road trips to National Parks. She made the best zucchini bread and loved yelling out "YEAH!" and "Hot damn!" when attending concerts that Reneé, Stephanie and Kennedy took her to. She played thousands of family games over the years with her parents, siblings, children and grandchildren. Alice was sometimes mad about losing, didn't always remember the rules so made up her own, and may have taught her grandkids how to cheat at some games, but she always made it fun.

She is survived by her children, Stephanie, Reneé, Gary and Richard, as well as six grandchildren (Ashlin, Kennedy and Melladie; Rebekah, Josh and Seth). She is also survived by her sister (Mary), four brothers (Carl, Ed, Don and Bob) and their families. She also leaves behind her sweet dog, Winston.

She was an incredibly generous, hard-working and caring woman. No matter how little she had at times, she always had something to share. She loved her family and friends with all her heart (even if she didn't always return your texts). We'll think of her every time we see a butterfly, elephant or yellow roses, and we hope others will as well.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest (9353 W. Clearwater Ave. in Kennewick) with a reception immediately after. Guests are encouraged to bring a dish and a favorite memory of Alice to share.
