Alvin Irvin Dunbar, born March 16, 1925, left his loving family behind on Monday August 22, 2005. Alvin grew up on a farm in Elwood, Nebraska and in the early 1940's he moved to Yakima. He then worked for Webb Logging where he worked for 22 years. During that time, Alvin moved his family to Gleed, Washington where they made amny life-long friends. He began working for Boise Cascade Trucking in the late 1970's, which relocated him to the Tri-Cities. Alvin met his wife Betty in 1979 and they wre married in 1982. They were happily married for 23 years. Alvin retired from Boise Cascade in 1984, he never stopped working, never lost his love of the farm. No matter where he lived, he continued to have a huge garden and raise livestock. Dad and Betty got a motor home and traveled for several years. They enjoyed going camping, gambling and rodeo's until his health slowed them down. His most favorite things were the family gatherings and tending and showing off his garden. He shared with everyone. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers. He is survived by his wefe, Betty, sisters, Mary Arnold and June Andrews of Nebraska and brother, Dale Dunbar of Yakima, sons, Loren Cindy Dunbar, David Sharron Dunbar from Yakima, and daughter Kathy John Carlson of Seattle, his stepchildren, Doyle Joy Reeves, Rick Reeves, Teresa Frazier and Cindy and Kelly Boyles all of the Tri-Cities, ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Dad was such a quiet, loving man and he will be greatly missed, we love you Dad! There will be a viewing on Thursday, August 25 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Hillcrest Memorial Center located at 9353 West Clearwater Avenue in Kennewick. Funeral Service will be held Friday, August 26 at 1:00 pm at the Hillcrest Memorial Center. The service will be followed by a graveside at Riverview Heights Cemetery located at 1200 South Olympia, Kennewick.
