Obituary

Barbara Joye Carlyle, 67, passed away on January 9, 2009 in Kennewick, Washington, following a hard fought battle with breast cancer. She was born on October 17, 1941, in Spokane, Washington to H.W. and Elynor Frederking. When she was just a few months old, the family moved to College Place, Washington where she lived until leaving home for college. Barbara married Marty Lynn Carlyle in 1961, in Walla Walla, Washington and shortly thereafter, they were sealed together for Time and Eternity in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. They became a family and were blessed with a son and two daughters. She lived in the Tri-Cities for the last five years following the death of her "sweet-heart", Marty. Barbara spent her adult life as a homemaker and took pride in caring for her family. Because of Marty's employment in the retail business, the family had the opportunity to live in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Colorado and Texas... but always considered Washington "home". Barbara enjoyed reading, genealogy, crafts, sewing, gardening, walking, camping, and golfing. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings for the church. During the last few years, she loved traveling to visit the kids and grandkids, especially for birthdays or baptisms. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends playing games or attending a grandchild's sporting or music event. Barbara is survived by her children Sherri Hill Kurtis of Kennewick, WA; Darin Carlyle Laurie of La Quinta, CA; and Jennifer Gregg Andrew of Erie, CO; eleven grandchildren – Kyle, Kristopher, Chelsie, Brittany, Julia, Hilary, Ryan, Evan, Jenna, Jill, and Jaden; three sisters – Kathy Grundmeier , Margaret Soderberg, Charlotte Frederking and brother, Richard Frederking. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; half brother - Norman Forrester; and brother - John Frederking, Sr. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2009, 11:00 am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Southgate Ward, 515 S. Union, in Kennewick.
