Betty Ann Hunt of Benton City passed away at her home on September 22, 2006, under the care of her children. Born on July 6th of 1928 in Narka, Kansas, Betty was 78 years old.
?Beautiful Bette? met the man of her life, George, in 1944. While working at a caf in Omaha, Nebraska, Betty saw George from across the room and told the girls she was working with ?that?s the man I am going to marry!? When George walked past her, rather than say hello, she stuck her foot out and tripped him! They were married three months later for 56 years, until George passed away in 2000. Betty is also preceded in death by a son, Tom.
Betty is survived by her family, daughter Jackie McAndrew husband Dick, daughter Vicki Hunt, son Tim Hunt wife, Amy and Kevin Hunt. Betty is also survived by one grandson, Patrick ?Putt? McAndrew. Betty is also survived by the family she chose, her ?other kids? Dan, Star, Skip, Rik, Mary Lou, Greg, Sue, Donnie, and Danny and Carol Bryant. They were always in her thoughts. She held a great fondness for her special nieces and nephews in Idaho and Nebraska and all her friends she met during her 25 years of work at the Benton City Post Office.
Betty always said that her life was so full of memories that each time she would close her eyes and reminisce; it was like a moving picture playing in her mind. Whether it was dancing up town with George, a trip to Alaska, a BBQ in the back yard or her yearly canning event with her Seattle girls, Debbie and Sandy, each event in her life was unforgettable.
After her retirement last year from the Benton City Post Office, she enjoyed going to the casino, watching her flowers grow and cows in the pasture graze.
Betty preferred the company of her children and friends their age. She stayed in step with the youngest and quickest of them. Always young at heart, Betty never grew old.
