Burt Thomas Stack Burt Thomas Stack released his spirit to God at the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice House on May, 25, 2010 after a 20 month courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born in California in 1928. His parents, Burt and Stella Stack�??both Majors in the Salvation Army�?? were stationed throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho and California while he and his siblings were growing up, eventually ending up in Seattle, Washington in 1951. Burt joined the Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Korea and Japan. He met and married his wife of 57 years, D, in Seattle. After graduating from Seattle Pacific University with a B. A. in English and Education, he earned Master's Degrees in English and Education Administration from the University of Washington. Burt started his career as a teacher in the Shoreline School District. He was the Principal at Richmond Beach, Parkside and Briarcrest elementary schools and finally a Director until his retirement in 1986 after 30 years. After retirement, Burt and D spent time touring the entire country, both by car and on their bicycles. Once, they made the trip from Canada to Mexico via bicycle. In 1995, Burt and D relocated to the Tri-Cities, Washington and bought a home at Sun Willows Golf Course, in Pasco. Throughout his life, Burt pursued a passion for both music and poetry, writing many poems�??having had a few published, and sharing his music through voice and playing the piano. In 1950, he was selected to attend an Internal Youth Congress in England. From the entire U.S. delegation, he was chosen to lead the combined choir at the Royal Albert Hall in London. A loving husband and father, Burt was a man of integrity, courage and strength who considered it his honor and responsibility to support worthy organizations. Many, many were recipients of his financial support. Burt is survived by his wife, D; daughter, Jan; son-in-law, Jeff; and sister, Marie; nieces and nephews; and many cherished friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Burt; mother, Stella; sister, Bernadine; sister, Georgia; and brother, Raymond. There will be a celebration of Burt's life at a date yet to be determined.
