Obituary

David (Dave) Charles Anderson was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, on May 7, 1936, and passed away on

October 20, 2023, at home in Pasco, Washington, at the age of 87. He was the youngest son of Oscar and

Edith Anderson. Dad attended high school at Garfield High School and played drums in the Seattle Youth Orchestra.

He attended the University of Washington and graduated with a degree in electrical engineering in 1959.

While attending a mutual friend's birthday in 1957, dad met Patricia Smiley; and in 1959, they married.

Dad worked for the Army Corps of Engineers after graduation, and he and mom were transferred to

Spokane where he worked on missile defense sites in the area. After a year and a half, they returned to

Seattle, where they bought a home and started a family. Daniel, Lisa, and David were born in Seattle. In

1968, the family moved to Pasco for dad's work at the Lower Monumental Dam. During that time, the

family visited Riverview Baptist Church, and Dad accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Dad left the Army

Corps of Engineers and went to work at Hanford, where he worked for numerous contractors until he

retired. Upon joining Riverview, Dad jumped in with both feet, running the Red Roadrunner Sunday

School bus route and working on the construction of Riverview Baptist Christian Schools, KOLU radio

station, and other projects. Dad would hold services at Hillcrest Nursing Home on Friday nights. The

family grew with the additions of Jonathan, Laurie, and later, Joel. In December 1994, Dad took an early

retirement from Hanford which gave him more time to serve the Lord. He started holding church

services at numerous assisted living homes in the Tri-Cities. Dad played in the church orchestra until

2020 and was an operator at KOLU for 52 years, faithfully playing inspirational instrumentals every

Saturday night from 8-11 p.m. until he left this earth.

Dad loved being with his family and grandkids, attending programs and sporting events. He is survived by

the love of his life Patricia; his children, Daniel (Sharon), Lisa (Doug) Nevill, David (Stacie), Jonathan,

Laurie (Paul) Sheehan, Joel; 21 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Edith, brother John, and sister Doris Konecny.

A memorial service will be held on November 4, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the main auditorium of Riverview

Baptist Church, 4900 W. Richardson Rd., Pasco, WA 99301
