In Loving Memory of Diane (Carlson) Galpin

02/27/1956 – 07/22/2024

Diane was a beautiful, fun-loving person when I met her, and she always was despite her struggles in the

last years. She loved spending time with her kids and taking them on trips and to concerts. Everybody liked

her, she was just a ton of fun to be around. She loved and was proud of her family and welcomed her

daughters-in-law as her own children. She couldn't get enough of her grandchildren, bragging about them

every chance she had. She loved being around her kids and their friends.

We met at her workplace in 1988. She worked in the computer room area, and I worked for an electrical

contractor, and was temporarily working there on a small repair job. She stayed there for a few years more

until after we got married in 1991, and we were sure that the business I bought into would support both of

us. Soon after she quit her full time job, she found out about a new breed of cats that was becoming

popular: Bengal Cats. She bought a couple of them and started breeding them with other Bengals from

around the country. She did that for several years and sent them all over the country and even the world… I

don't have a list, but I know that one of them went to Japan. Those cats brought a lot of joy to a lot of people.

She finally quit doing that when she just couldn't justify breeding and selling exotic cats when there were

unwanted cats being euthanized because of a shortage of people wanting to adopt common cats.

She loved to travel and went to Europe a couple of times, and on a few cruises - some with me and some

friends, and one with her kids. She was very interested in world history, particularly Europe. She wanted to

travel there again after I retired, but she didn't make it (husbands, take it from me – don't put your career

over your wives and family, time is fleeting and at the end you won't wish you'd spent more time at work). If

that were the end of the story, I wouldn't be able to bear it. But the last few months of her life, she started

earnestly trying to believe in and follow Jesus.

You've never gone too far from Him or have sunk too low for Him to forgive and restore you. The Bible says,

"A bruised reed He will not break, and smoking flax He will not quench". For that reason, I know I'll see her

again and she will be once again the person I knew and fell in love with – only better. In Heaven, there will be

no more tears or pain.

She is survived by me, her husband; Her sons Sean Capellen, Nico Capellen Jr. and his wife Heather, and

Nathan and Vontrice Capellen; Nico & Heather's children Maddi and Alex; Nathan & Vontrice's Children

Miles, Ilse, and Atlas; her brother Doug Carlson and his wife Janette; sisters Sharon Salisbury and Debbie

Lucero and her husband Eric.

She was preceded in death by her dad Clarence Carlson; mom Sue Campbell, brother Danny Carlson; and

ex-husband Nico Capellen (he was still loved as part of her family).

~ Epilogue~

Please do yourself and your family a huge favor and give your life to Jesus today! We don't know when we'll

move into eternity. Diane was sitting beside me watching TV, had a heart attack, and fifteen minutes later

she was dead with no time for goodbyes. I'm comforted in the knowledge that I'll see her again, and that's

the only comfort I have right now. The Bible says "Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day

of salvation." Salvation is available to everybody at anytime, anywhere:

John 3:16-17 says "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in

Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the

world, but that the world through Him might be saved."

Belief in Jesus means that you put your entire trust in Him to be your only hope of salvation (because we are

already convicted criminals awaiting God's sentencing for our lifetimes of sin) – the kind of trust you would

have in a parachute when you jump out of a plane.

Many people have heard of the gospel but have no idea what it is. Gospel means "good news", and the Bible

described it this way in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4: "For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that

Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third

day according to the Scriptures…". His rising from the dead was proof that He is God. Anybody can claim to

be our savior, but only Jesus proved it by rising from the dead as He said He would, and as the Bible foretold.

The Bible also says in Romans 10:9-10 "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in

your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto

righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

In Isaiah 1:18, God said this to His people, who had abandoned Him: "Come now, and let us reason

together," Says the Lord, "Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are

red like crimson, They shall be as wool. …".

Please turn to and trust in Jesus now, if you haven't already. If you're having trouble believing that it's all true,

earnestly ask God to reveal Himself to you and He will… He promises that in Jeremiah 29:11-14: "For I know

the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and

a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and

find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring

you back from your captivity". That was written to the Jews at a low point in their history, but the principle is

for all of us, Jesus proved that.
