Donald Patrick Fleming, 76 of Pasco Passed away on July 1, 2007 in Kennewick, WA. Don was born on June 19, 1931 in Mill Creek, Pennsylvania to William and Margaret Fleming. He was the second youngest of eleven brothers and sisters. At the age of 18 he joined the Army and was transferred to Camp Hanford. The night they arrived, Don and his division awoke the next morning to what they thought was Hell and requested to be transferred to Korea. But soon after he was there he had met Betty Carlile which made this place not so bad after all. Don and Betty were married April 19, 1952 and in 1953 Don was discharged from the Army. He then went to work for Northern Pacific Railroad, then later for the Benton County PUD, from which he retired. In 1987, his wife, Betty passed away suddenly which left a void in his life. In 1989 he met Maxine Thompsen who filled that void. They loved and took care of each other. Maxine was always there for Don and Don was there for Maxine. Don was a member of the Knights of Columbus with St. Patricks Catholic Church. During his younger years he was a Boy Scout leader taking numerous Pasco boys on outings. He enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling, though his favorite pastime was watching sports, especially Notre Dame football ---GO IRISH!!!!! Don is survived by his companion of 18 yrs Maxine Thompson; his sisters Mary Alice Levine of New York and Patricia Corby of Pennsylvania; his niece Kathleen Slattery, who came to visit us quite often and her husband John, from New York; several nieces and nephews, who mostly reside back East; his five children Denise Steve Hockaday of Pasco, Wa., Colleen Mike Valadez of Puyallup, Wa., Michael Nacha Fleming of Pasco, Wa., Todd Fleming of Hillsboro, OR., and Patrick Fleming of Richland, Wa.; 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; his second family Dan and Shawn Thompson and their family; Mike and Charlie Thompson, of Bliss, Idaho and several of the Thompson nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at City View Cemetery in Pasco, Wa on July 6th @ 2:00 pm. Hillcrest/Bruce Lee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements..
