Ellen Gilbert Goodrich

Ellen Gilbert Goodrich returned home to her Father in Heaven on Sept 21, 2026 at her home in Othello WA. Ellen was born on June, 15th 1934 in Arcadia UT to Ozza LeAndrew and Rose Meranda Gilbert. She was the second daughter in a family of 10 children, 8 boys and 2 girls.

Mom loved growing up in Arcadia with all of her brothers and sister. She loved to ride horses and play in the river next to her home and climb all the trees she could find.

Early in 1952 she met Charles Jack Goodrich on a blind date and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 25, 1952. Over the net 25 years, they brought 12 children in the world, yet somehow there was always room for one more person to feed, help, serve, or love. And through the beautiful and the ugly, there was always that infectious laugh, the kind that made her eyes wrinkle, filled a room, and made everyone else laugh along.

Mom loved to serve and help others. She was known for her homemade bread, cookies, lemon pie and caramels, which there was never enough of.

Out of all of the service she gave at church, which was her whole life, her most cherished was with the children of the Othello 2nd ward, which she served for many many years.

She always would make sure you were not hungry when you came to visit and always made everyone feel at home. “Can I get you anything” was almost the first words out of her mouth each time.

She loved her savior Jesus Christ and understood his plan for her.

She fiercely loved her children, grandchildren and great-grand children with all of her heart. Even though two of her children and one grandson left this earth before she did, Duane in 1973 and Renae in 2023, and Andy in 2021, she always had a positive outlook on life. Her legacy of love, compassion and service will live on forever.

Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Jack Goodrich, her children Duane Goodrich and Renae Westerbur (Charlie) and grandson LeAndrew (Andy) Goodrich. She is Survived by her Children, LeAndrew (Pam) Goodrich, Laura (Dean) Ferguson, Janet (Robert) Shirts, Norene (Evan) Anderson, Callis (Jill) Goodrich, Marion (Dawn) Goodrich, Delbert (Mary) Goodrich, Roselee (Kelly) Simkins, JoAnn (Eric) Shirley, Wayne (Jody) Goodrich, and 39 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Othello WA 1200 E Rainier St, Othello, WA 99344 on October 10th at 11am.
