Obituary Fred passed away Monday, October 10, 2011 with his wife Louise by his side. Fred was born March 4, 1926 in Vancouver, Washington and later moved to Brush Prairie, Washington where his family started the Prairie Rose Dairy. As a young man, Fred learned what it meant to be a dedicated hard worker, delivering milk from 50 milk cows to Mayflower and furnishing milk to the Vancouver barracks during World War II. Fred married Louise on August 31, 1952. They later took over the family dairy and started their family. Fred Jr., Henry, and Diane were born in Vancouver, Washington and after the family moved to Prosser in 1962, Fred and Louise welcomed their fourth child, Laurie. Fred pursued his passion for farming in Prosser where they raised sugar beets, potatoes, and mint. Fred's hard work led him to become one of the top sugar beet growers in the region. On Sundays, however, you would find Fred taking his family boating, water skiing, fishing, and camping. In 1976, Fred moved his farming operation from Prosser to Mattawa, where his sons joined him in growing mint, asparagus, corn, potatoes and wheat. In 1987, Fred retired to Kennewick where he enjoyed gardening, wood working, and his new found love of breeding Dobermans. Fred loved spending time with family and greatly enriched the lives of everyone who knew him, especially his children and grandchildren. Fred is survived by his wife, Louise Moore; son, Fred Lark and their children, Fred III, and Leischen; son, Henry Maureen and child Allie; daughter, Diane Scott Hyndman and their children Emily, Charlie, Matt and 2 great-grandchildren; daughter Laurie Gary Ellis; his sister Margaret Chuck Schneider and their children, Charlie, Steve and Susie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Sr. and Margaret, and infant daughter, Karla Jean. Fred was a quiet man known for his honest one liners. He was dedicated, hardworking, talented, funny, and loved by so many. His family is grateful for the legacy he has passed on and will greatly miss his loving heart and contagious smile.
