Gary Norris Langlois, 1936-2012 Gary Norris Langlois passed away on June 4th, 2012. He was born in Minneapolis, MN on January 17th, 1936 to Irving and Margaret Langlois. He graduated from Central High School in 1953. He then enlisted in the Navy and served on board the U.S.S. Dixie as an Electronics Technician 3rd Class. Gary met the love of his life, Patricia Fredenberg, in 1957. It was truly love at first sight. They were married April 12th, 1958. Although Gary and Patricia started their adventure together in Minneapolis, they did not stay there long. They moved frequently, living all over the country including New Jersey and Alaska. They also spent a year abroad in Spain. Together they had eleven children. Gary personally delivered his 4th child in the wilds of Alaska. He traveled the world, enjoying many excursions including big game hunting in Burma and Alaska. While in Alaska, he earned his pilot's license. Gary adored being with his children and he supported them in their endeavors. He was a scout master, a baseball coach, and even spent a year as the President of the Richland Legion Baseball League. He spearheaded the Christ the King Sausage Fest, and was a chairman and treasurer for a number of years. Gary loved his work. He was an innovator in ultrasonics and optics. As an inventor and engineer, he held nine patents in the United States and Japan combined. He ventured out in 1988 to start his own international ultrasound company, Sigma Transducers Inc. Gary leaves behind his daughters Jocelyn, Heidi, Leah Wayne and Heather Larry, and sons Scott Kristen, Dana, Geoff Shannon, Erik Shae, Kirk and Victor Scott. He also leaves 39 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, with three more on the way this year. Gary was preceded in death by his dearest love Patricia, his oldest son Gary X., his parents Irving and Margaret, his brother Richard and sister Jean, as well as a grand-daughter, Brianna, and two great-grandchildren Emily and Baby J. The family extends a special thanks to the nurses of Kadlec Hospital who took such good care of our dad. Memorial Services will be held at Southside Church, 517 Jadwin, Richland, WA. At 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 15th, 2012.
