Glenn Anthony Ball, 68, of Kennewick, Washington, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 28, 2026. He was born on October 5, 1957, in Santa Ana, California, to Waldo and Phyllis Ball.

Glenn was the only brother to three sisters, a role that likely prepared him for a lifetime of sarcasm, survival skills, and knowing when to keep his mouth shut. Growing up in a military family meant moving often, with California, Hawaii, Arizona, and Washington all becoming home at one point or another.

In 1975, Glenn met a beautiful girl named Jody at Denny's - he was the short-order cook, she was the waitress, and somehow, he convinced her to stick around forever. He always joked that he "married up" when they were married on March 23, 1977, and anyone who knew them knew he meant it.

In 1978, Glenn was hired by Burlington Northern Railway. After six years on the railroad, he found the career that truly fit him and spent the next 31 years serving as a police officer in Adams County and later with the Kennewick Police Department. During his career he worked as a D.A.R.E. instructor, Metro detective, and member of the Criminal Apprehension Team for KPD. He was respected for his work ethic, quick wit, and ability to make even serious situations a little less heavy.

Glenn and Jody raised three children and spent years hauling kids and their friends from one sport, event, or adventure to the next. Summers were often spent at Lake Roosevelt, where Glenn became legendary for the wild tube rides behind his beloved Sea Ray boat. If you managed to stay on the tube, you earned bragging rights.

But in 2004, Glenn earned the title that mattered most to him: Grandpa Po Po.

Being a grandpa wasn't just his favorite role - it was his entire personality. He loved campfire stories, cheering loudly at every game, concert, and activity, and giving Jody the approving thumbs-up whenever she wanted to spoil the grandkids even more at Christmas. Po Po's lifelong goal was to be the funniest guy in every room - or at the very least, the funniest one in the group chat. He was loving, hilarious, sarcastic, and famous for comments so unexpected they left everyone speechless before bursting into laughter.

Though Glenn was always close with his family, the last few years brought an especially deep friendship between him and his daughter. Together they took a trip to the Oregon coast - his favorite place - where he could sit and watch his dogs run freely on the beach. During that special trip, they revisited the town where he and Jody honeymooned, caught up with his childhood best friend and watched his granddaughter play in her final college basketball game of the season.

He also spent more time with his youngest sister-in-law in recent years and proudly introduced Tracy to one of his favorite shows, Trailer Park Boys, which probably tells you everything you need to know about Glenn's sense of humor.

Glenn is survived by his sons, Tony (Kristen) and Sean (Sarah); his daughter, Kaelen (Jeff) Ripplinger; his 11 beloved grandchildren: Kai, Kael, Rylei, Dre, Jordan, McKenna, Katy, Jadyn, Jacob, Connor, and Ashlynn; his sister, Marcelle (Don) Haynes; and his loyal doggies, Emmy and Charlie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Cindy and Phyllis; and the love of his life, Jody.

The last three years without Jody were long ones for Glenn. There's comfort in knowing their reunion was undoubtedly sweet - probably filled with laughter, teasing, and Glenn reminding her one more time that he still thought he married up.
