KENNEWICK, Wash. - Helen M. Ashenhurst Jones, 99, formerly of Lingle, Wyo., passed away Sept. 23, 2006. At her request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Helen was born June 7, 1907, in Tingley, Iowa to Fred and Elizabeth Shepard Ashenhurst. At an early age she moved with her parents to Torrington. She later married Allen Jones and moved to Lingle. To this union was born four daughters. She was active in the Eastern Star, being a fifty-year member and a past matron. Helen was also a past Guardian of Job's Daughters and a member of the Lingle Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her daughters and their families, Marian and Paul Hinds of Steilcom, Wash., Rosemary and Pat Huffman of Kennewick, Wash., Barbara Hort of Lyman, Kaye and Verle Ellis of Cheyenne; sister, Ila Fowler of Coronado, Calif.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and sister, Lena Henderson.
