When Isa Dolores 'Dee' Reed was born on 13 Nov 1925 in Pueblo, Pueblo County, Colorado, her father Myron Conrad Reed (1901-1984) was 24 and her mother Lucy Savage (1903-1996) was 22. She was the second of three children: ●Margaret 'Marge' Reed Pugh 1924-2013 ●Isa Dolores 'Dee' Reed Lynch 1925-2018 ●Wesley Oliver Reed 1926- Having attended schools in Colorado, Arizona, California, and Oregon, Dee graduated in 1943 from the Girls Polytechnic High School in Portland, Oregon. During World War II, Dee worked the swing shift in the Portland Shipyards as a "Rosie the Riveter," where she helped fill the labor shortage because many of the young men volunteered to serve in the war. Having first met her boyfriend, John Owen 'Jack' Lynch, in Yuba City, Sutter County, California, during her sophomore year in high school, they later reconnected in Oregon. Jack had enlisted in the U.S. Navy and they were later married on 4 Jan 1945 in Long Beach, California. They were blessed with two daughters: ●Leslie Dolores Lynch Kelly ●Kathleen Mary 'Kathy' Lynch Fisher (1953-1998) In 1947, Jack and Dee relocated to Richland, Benton County, Washington, with government employment at the Hanford Site where he worked as a Security Patrol Officer. Dee secured a job as a bank teller in Richland when Jack was drafted back into military service during the Korean War. A few years later, she became self-employed as a self-taught ceramics instructor and opened a business called Dee's Hobby Hut which she operated for 10 years. In June 1977, the National Ceramic Association (NCA) Education Foundation awarded Dee a certificate as an NCA Accredited Teacher. Upon Jack's retirement as a Captain, they decided to travel across the country in their RV, visiting 48 states. Even in retirement, Dee enjoyed her role as an artist—counted cross-stitch (vs. stamped cross-stitch), quilting, jewelry making and taking up a new form of art called zentangle (pen and ink). At the age of 89, Dee received the privilege of having her artwork selected into a juried art show at the Tri-City campus of Washington State University. She also thoroughly enjoyed playing board games, cards and puzzles and of course, being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dee was preceded in death by her husband Jack on 15 Mar 1996, their daughter Kathy Fisher (Mark) on 30 Oct 1997, and her sister Margaret Pugh (Ralph) on 7 May 2013. Surviving her are her daughter Leslie Kelly (Art) of Richland, Washington; grandsons Ryan Kelly of Kennewick, Washington; Trevor Kelly (Krista) of West Richland, Washington, and their 3 children (Tyler Boyd, Sebastian Kelly and Quinn Kelly); Michael Fisher of Kennewick; and Matthew Fisher (Kim) of Kennewick. In addition, Dee's brother, Wesley Oliver Reed resides in Port Hadlock, Washington. In lieu of a cemetery burial, Dee elected to donate her body to medical science.
