Jack Monroe Vannice Sr. Resident of Pasco, WA. - 55 years Jack Monroe Vannice, Sr. passed away peacefully on Friday, January 26, 2007 at The Chaplaincy Hospice House in Kennewick, WA as he was welcomed in to the loving arms of our Heavenly Father and Savior. He began his time on earth in Los Angeles, CA on January 16, 1924, but called Montana his childhood home. He joined the Army in 1943, following in his big brothers footsteps. He proudly served his country in the Northern France, Rhineland, and Central European Campaigns during World War II. He received numerous medals and awards, including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. After serving his country, he returned home and began his career with the railroad. He retired in 1983, from Burlington Northern, with a total of 38 years in the railroad industry. He enjoyed the remainder of his years with his wife Nancy of 56 years, loving family and friends, who's lives were greatly enriched by the many stories that he loved to share. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known him. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Nancy, half-brother Kenneth E. Vannice, Portland, OR and six children, Sharis L. Murn, Kalispell, MT, Virgie L. Martin Pete, Kennewick, WA, Jack M. Vannice Jr. Vina Pasco, WA, Elmer D. Vannice, Auburn, WA, Ernest D. Vannice Debbie, Pasco, WA, Ramona E. Vannice-Pemberton Gary, Pasco, WA, ten 10 grandchildren and nine 9 great-grandchildren and numerous family and special friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel B. Vannice, Sr. mother Lula E. Johnson, stepfather, Elmer A. Johnson, brother Daniel B. Vannice Jr., sister Ruby V. Long, and stepson Robert A. Tandy. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held on February 10, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bruce Lee Memorial Chapel on 2804 W. Lewis St. Pasco, WA. Following the service all are invited to gather at the American Legion, Post 34, located at 1029 W. Sylvester St. Pasco, WA for snacks and a special time of remembrance. The family would like to express their gratitude to all employees at both Avalon Healthcare Pasco and The Chaplaincy Hospice House Kennewick. In lieu of flowers and donations may be made to the Hospice House. Their kindness and support in our time of loss were unforgettable.
