Obituary

Jane Roy Schiek Pinkerton was born on September 11, 1938 in Meadville, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Meadville High School and attended Nursing School for a couple of years before dropping out to pursue a business career in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. She eventually landed a job as an executive secretary at TV Guide Magazine, to the Regional Manager. She also had a part time evening job with a local printing company where she met her future husband, Charles Merrill Pinkerton Jr. Charles relocated to Pasco, Washington and Jane joined him in 1973. Charles set up his own accounting services and Jane got a job with Pasco School District starting out in Federal Projects, helping with writing grants and then moving on to Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent. For many years Jane and her husband enjoyed camping and fishing and traveled to Wyoming, Montana, Canada and Oregon, as well as Washington, From 1995 to 2002 Jane cared for her ailing husband and also her mother from 2000-2001. A month after her husband's death, Jane was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and subsequently had a mastectomy. In 2008 Jane was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, eventually metastasizing to the liver. Jane is survived by a sister, Nancy Sterling and her husband, Ken Sterling of Dewey, Arizona. She leaves a step-daughter, Susan Labos of Pittsburgh, PA and 2 step grandchildren. A sister-in-law, Linda Schiek and a niece and nephew, Nephew Ron Pullease, his wife Gayle and their 3 children. Memorial services will be held 2pm on November 4, 2008 at the First Christian Church in Pasco, WA. Donations can be made to Tri-Cities Cancer Center.
