On November 26th, 2025, Johari M. C. Wiley, of Richland, Washington passed away of natural causes in her home at the age of 72. She was born to William R. "Bill" Wiley, Ph.D and Mrs. Myrtle Louise "Gus" Wiley in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 19th, 1953.

The Wiley family moved to Richland in 1965 when Dr. Wiley accepted a position as a research scientist with Batelle Memorial Institute at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. After graduating high school, Johari later went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from Washington State University in 1988.

Johari was a private individual and didn't share much information about her life, but she was known to be a talented painter, and was a collector of beautiful works of art.

Johari is survived by her son, Jovian Schaeffer of Troy, NY; an aunt and uncle, Inez and Edgar Smith of Jackson, MS; extended family including cousins; and a few close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved cats.

There will be a small service at the internment, located at Sunset Gardens, 915 By Pass Highway, Richland WA 99352, on Thursday, December 18th, 2025 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Seattle Children's Hospital Foundation, PO Box 5371, Seattle WA 98145.
