Obituary

John Patrick Wohlwend

February 25, 1938 – March 31, 2024

John Patrick (Pat) Wohlwend passed away at home surrounded by his family, after a long battle with prostate cancer. He was born in Greeneville, Tennessee on February 25, 1938 to John S. Wohlwend and Eula A. (Armstrong) Wohlwend. On May 9, 1958, Pat married Donna Mae Lee in Portland, OR. He began his career with the U.S. Air Force in Spokane, WA, and later moved to Klamath Falls, OR, where he retired as Chief Master Sergeant. He then worked as a Forensics Technician with the Oregon State Police. After retirement the couple moved to Brookings, OR and enjoyed neighbors, and a small beach community with many activities to explore. The couple moved to Kennewick, WA in later years to be closer to family.

His lifetime was filled with being President of the Klamath Basin Horse Association, a volunteer member of the Klamath County Sheriff's Posse, a United Way representative for Kingsley Field. He participated in a Pistol Club and was a member of the Association of Retired Police. Pat was a competitive marksman; he enjoyed camping trips with friends, family and horses, hunting (early years), hiking and enjoying wildlife both in Klamath and at the beach. Pat loved his outdoor toys - snowmobiles, boats, 4-wheelers, and trailers. He fed deer, birds and squirrels for years on his property. He loved his dogs so much over the years, and looked forward to joining all of them in Heaven.

Pat is survived by his wife Donna of over 65 years, daughter Susan (Dan) Bodtker of Beaverton, OR, grandson Wyatt; daughter Jill (Rick) Door of Kennewick, WA, grandkids Jason (Ayla) Door, Holly (Brett) Bergum, Audrey (Liv); great grandkids Wally and Cyrus Door, and Brady and Kennedy Bergum, brother Peter (Beth) Wohlwend of Greensboro, NC and sister Anne (Bob) Jones of Nashville, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Eula Wohlwend and brother George R. Wohlwend.

There will be a private celebration of life with family at a later time. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to the Benton Franklin Humane Society.

The family would like to thank Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice for allowing Pat to be at home in his final weeks.
