John lived a life marked by devotion to family, faith, and community.

John Peterson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on October 5, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on March 27, 1942, in Woods Cross, Utah, to Glen Wood Peterson and Winnie Lavaun Wright, John lived a life marked by devotion to family, faith, and community.

John was a cowboy at heart, born a century too late, with a love for woodworking, shooting, and working with horses. He was predeceased tragically by Louis L'Amour and John Wayne - some of his greatest inspirations, who kept him company more days than not throughout his life. In their honor he was always found in boots, western shirts and hat.

John was the 5th of eight children and was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Farrell, Delbert, Dale, and Dean and sister June. He is survived by his cherished wife of 63 years, Karen Bybee Peterson, whom he married on August 8, 1963, in the Idaho Falls Temple. Their enduring partnership was a testament to love and commitment, celebrated by their family and friends throughout the years. He is also survived by his two sisters, Kathy and DeeAnn, and his loving children: Steve (Kimber) Peterson, John (Tamara) Peterson, KayLynn (Gregg) Taylor, and Blake Peterson. He was a proud grandfather to Braxton, Dallin, Weslyn, Tessa, Ashton, Jess, Josh, Grace, Jake, Stockton, Logan, Natalie, Sadee, Tanner, Eliza, KayLynn, Addie Mae, and seven great-grandchildren. He was also predeceased by his dear daughter-in-law, Kimberlee Peterson.

A graduate of Nyssa High School in 1960, John had a passion for agriculture, which led him to actively participate in the Future Farmers of America (FFA), where he held leadership roles. His love for the land and farming defined much of his professional life. John worked as a dairy farmer, farm manager, field consultant, and farm chemical consultant, contributing significantly to the agricultural community.

John was a cowboy at heart, born a century too late, with a love for woodworking, shooting, and working with horses.

An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, John dedicated his life to serving others and shared his strong testimony of Jesus Christ. He served a mission in the Northwest States from 1961 to 1963 and later, alongside his wife Karen, at The Martin Cove Historical Sites in Wyoming from 2010 to 2011. His faith was a guiding light in his life, and he

held various positions in his local ward, always ready to lend a helping hand where needed.

John's legacy is his family, who will carry forward his values of kindness, faith, and community service. He passed on an innate ability to connect with others, to serve, and to help those in need. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was a blessing, and his memory will forever remain a comfort and inspiration to those he leaves behind.
