Obituary

On September 23 ,2021 our Lord called his servant John Thomas Roberson home, to join the angel band. Where there is no pain, no tears and the streets are lined with gold. John was born in Fort Worth, Texas on December 6,1947. He was born to Walter and Gladys Roberson. He had two sisters, Debbie Johnson and Sis. John was born into a military family and learned to love American and defend this country and he did that until the end of his life. John served in the Army and had an Honorable discharge in July 1970. He served in active duty in Vietnam. After the military John went to work f or Boeing which is where he met the love of his life Deloris Roberson. He was a devoted husband. John dedicated his life to Christ, his wife and family. John married Deloris and her three teenage daughters on June 5, 1976. They were married for 46 years. John went to school to be a heavy equipment operator. He worked out at the Hanford Reservation as a laborer. He had other jobs throughout his life. He was a janitor in Alaska, laborer at Adak Island in Alaska running a rock crusher, worked as a truck driver for the Benton County Road department, Maintenance supervisor for the Wendover and Sunridge apartments for 30 years, his last career was an environmental aide for Kadlec Hospital which he did for 30 years. John will be most remembered by all for his cowboy hats made by his cousin Shorty Koger, his boots and western attire. He was a true gentleman and Texan. He had a smile that went a mile, eyes that could melt stone and when he spoke people listened. His family will always remember his saying we heard so many times, "Dad gum it!" What John prized more than anything was his family. He loved and dotted on his wife, never complaining and calling her, "His yellow rose of Texas." His daughters, Reba, Leah, Lori and Carolyn were loved by him more than words can say. But nothing was more important than his 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. They all had Papa wrapped around his finger. 2 Timothy 4:6-8 states, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith, therefore, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only but also to all them that have loved his appearing." John lived his life loving and obeying God. He sat a Christian example before his family and friends and he was loved by everybody. Services to celebrate this fine Christian Texan man will be held on October 16, 2021 at 11:00 at the Richland Church of Christ on the corner of Swift and Thayer with a reception to follow.
