John L. Walker was born on September 17, 1934 in Portland Oregon to Leland and Ethel Walker. He had five elder sisters, Virginia, Juanita, Betty, Jane, and Diane, all who predecease him. He went to be with the Lord on February 3, 2021 at 10:05 pm. He was a resident of Kennewick, Washington having moved there with his wife, Karen, in 2007. John and Karen were married on February 14, 1976. They were married for almost 45 years. John attended Grant High School and excelled in Track. He also enjoyed basketball, but his favorite sport was football. As John grew up, he became an avid University of Oregon Duck fan, a passion he passed on to his children. For many years John owned a house painting business. He later worked for Willamette Savings as the head of the shipping department. In his final years before retirement, John and his wife moved to Hawaii, where he worked at the Hilton Waikoloa. He was the department head and Skipper of their boats and trams. During his retirement years he was able to enjoy grandchildren and great grandchildren and to travel while they owned a RV. He always looked forward to the time spent at the Pasco Church of the Nazarene. During his years in Portland, he was very active with the youth group and choir at Valley View Evangelical church, where he became somewhat famous for his rendition of "Oh Holy Night ". John was always quite a DIYer and even made a small garage at his home in Kennewick in his 80's. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen, five sons, Reiner, John Jr., Tom, Rob, and Ken and three daughters, Christa, Coni, and Cindy. He also has 21 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. His memorial service will be held at Pasco Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, February 13 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the church will be appreciated.
