Kristie Michelle Martinez, Born on February 4th 1974 in Champai, Illinois to Marty and Carol Ghering. The oldest of 5 daughters, Kristie was always ready to give advice and tell you like it was. When Kristie was 19 she gave birth to her only child Blake who lit up her life. Kristie was In the Army for 6 years and worked her way up to sergeant. Her basic training and AIT was at Fort Jackson. She was also stationed in Fort Lewis, Fort bragg and completed a multi-national Force and Observers peacekeeping mission in Egypt and then finally settled and finished her military career at Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma. During her time in Oklahoma she spent a lot of time with her family, taking her younger siblings and cousin on vacations and being an advisor to her families younger generation. She also became a nurse which was her career from 2005-2017. Kristie was always a free spirit and on the run chasing her dreams. In 2005 she moved to Washington State and for the last 12 years she built a life there. She enjoyed cooking, horses, dancing, swimming and competed in 3 triathlons and was an avid skydiver. She was full of love and when she loved, she loved hard. Kristie is preceded in death by her aunt Donna of Oklahoma City. She is survived by her father Marty Ghering and step mother Ursula of Iowa, Her mother Carol Frazier and step father Tony Frazier of Oklahoma City, Her grandmother Norma Nelson, Her son Blake Teter and wife Tori Teter of Oklahoma City, and their son Adam Teter along with another child on the way. Her sisters Jennie Maddox, Lydia, Leahanne and Lindsay Frazier, two step brothers Corey and Arivd Frazier, her cousin Rachael George, 2 nieces,2 nephews, and a large group of friends who also became her family along the way. Kristie will be remembered as a head-strong, outgoing, beautiful soul who could light up any room she walked into. She captured the hearts of anyone she connected with and had an infectious spirit. She will be miss heavily by so many. A viewing will be held one hour before funeral services. Service starts at 3:00pm at Hillcrest Memorial Center 9353 W. Clearwater Ave. Kennewick, WA. Another viewing will be held after the Service for those who could not attend the earlier viewing. Donations will be accepted at Hillcrest to help the family with funeral cost.
