Larry Dean Friedrichsen was born on July 8, 1950 in Bloomfield, Nebraska, where he lived until he was 15. He moved with his parents Alfred and Arietta and siblings Loren and Judy Friedrichsen Shaw to Auburn, Washington in 1966 where he graduated from Auburn High School in 1968.
After graduation he moved to California for several years and worked as a roofer. He moved back to the Puget Sound area in 1973. Larry was baptized into Christ in 1974. He has been an active member of the Church of Christ ever since. After continual study and growth he began preaching and teaching the word of God in the Pacific NW, including the Tri-Cities. He had a passion for sharing the Word and loved bringing people to the Lord.
Family meant everything to Larry. On December 31, 1975 Larry married the love of his life, Louise Southard. On December 12, 1978 his first daughter Jessica Rae was born. It was an amazing day indeed because Larry, Unexpectedly, was given the rare opportunity to deliver his daughter at home. On December 5, 1984 the Lord blessed Larry and Louise with another beautiful daughter, Heidi Rae. She was born without quite as much fanfare but with every bit as much love and excitement. He also had the rare opportunity to preside as minister over both his daughter?s weddings, which truly were special moments in time.
In 1982 Larry moved to the Wenatchee area where he worked for the East Wenatchee School District and continued to teach and preach the truths in God?s word. In 1992 he and his family moved to the Tri-Cities area where Larry preached at the Church of Christ in Pasco. In 1994 he became Maintenance Supervisor for the Kiona-Benton City School District. Larry took his job very seriously, took great pride in what he did, and loved the people with whom he worked. He made many wonderful friends at the school district going through his treatment and until his death.
Larry didn?t forget his first love however, the Lord Jesus Christ. He continued to be an active role model and teacher in the Church at Richland. Larry?s many friends and family members have enjoyed his lessons and remark all the time how Larry always knew how to speak right to their hearts. He had so many more plans he wanted to accomplish for the Lord before he left us.
Before he died he shared that he was very excited about the coming event of going home to be with the Lord. His faith has been his strength when traditional medicine failed him. His unbelievable sense of humor was his outlet through all the experimental treatments and disappointments. His laughter was quite contagious.
Larry also had a passion for the games of golf and cribbage which he shared with many friends.
Larry is survived by his loving wife Louise, daughters Jessica DeMyer & Jason, Heidi Miller & Nate, and his beloved 3 year old Grandson Gavin. He has also reserved a very special place in his heart for his precious unborn Grandchild due in February. Also surviving him are his Mother Arietta Friedrichsen of Auburn WA, Brother Loren Friedrichsen & Cathy of Millcreek WA, Sister Judy Shaw & Ray of Bonney Lake WA, and many loving Nephews and Nieces who will all miss their favorite Uncle Larry?s sense of humor and love.
Larry was preceded in death by his father Alfred Friedrichsen who died January 1, 1980 and Grand Parents John and Christina Carlow of Bloomfield, Nebraska.
