Lawrence E. Denton 8/20/1924-10/7/2011 Lawrence "Larry" E. Denton was born August 20th 1924, in Priest River, Idaho to Fern and Sarah Denton. Larry spent his younger years in the Priest River and Priest Lake area working in the logging industry for the Forest Service. After graduating from Priest River High School in 1943, Larry continued in the logging industry for a short time until moving to Richland, WA to work at the Hanford Project. This is where Larry met the love of his life, Arlene Ferguson. Larry and Arlene were married on June 27th 1945 and remained together until Arlene's passing in January of this year. Larry was also preceded in death by both his parents and his older brother, Richard "Dick" Denton and his daughter in law Reba Denton. For over 43 years, Larry worked at Hanford and retired as the Manager of Maintenance and Surveillance of the retired facilities. Larry spent his retirement traveling with his wife to many countries around the world, spending time at their cabin on Lake Cle Elum, and working diligently to get Hanford's B Reactor made into a national historic landmark, where he helped give tours to the public. Larry can also be seen on the History Channel, in the many documentaries made about Hanford. Larry loved to have a good time with his family and friends. He was never known to turn down an ice cold beer or glass of wine. He was also known to "sneak a snort" of whiskey every now and then. Larry is survived by his son Terry, grandsons Eric and Marc and their wives, Collette and Juliette, great granddaughter Cora, his sister Marge and her husband Roy, and his sister in law Mary Denton. Larry was a wonderful and caring man who always had time for others and will be greatly missed by all his friends and family. A celebration of Larry's life will be held on Saturday, October 15th, from 12:00 to 5:00 pm, lunch being served at 12:30, at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel, 480 Columbia Point Drive, Richland, WA. All of Larry's friends and family are invited.
