Loren Dale Hayes

1937-2026

Dale was born in Murray, Utah to Earl and Thelma Hayes and passed peacefully in Richland, WA. It was a short 2.5 months before joining Carol, his wife of 67 years.

Dale graduated from Walla Walla High School in1955 where he met Carol. After graduation, Dale served in the US Marine Corp, received an honorable Discharge and was a US Marine through and through.

Dale and Carol married, moved to Tri-Cities and soon Lauri and Kathy were born. Along the way, two daughters, Marianne and Kay, joined the family. While Dale was working at the Hanford Area, he completed his AA at Columbia Basin College. He moved the family to Cheney and earned a master's degree with honors in Psychology at Eastern WA University.

Dale moved back to the Tri-Cities to work at Mid-Columbia Mental Health Center. Eventually he returned to the Hanford Area where he held several HR positions and retired from Westinghouse Hanford.

He was a quiet person with a strong moral compass and always put family first. He was a good listener, helped friends and family by providing good advice. He had a great sense of humor, he played the guitar, and adored good chocolate. He respected animals and had several dogs over the years who were treated very well. He donated regularly to the local humane society. He loved seeing his grandchildren and enjoyed family gatherings. He learned to play cards at an early age which continued until his last day. Lauri and Kathy helped their parents until the end.

Dale was preceded in death by his best friend and sweetheart, Carol, who passed in January. Preceded in death by both parents and his brother Neil Hayes. He is survived by his daughters, Lauri Cousineau, Kathy Hayes, Kay (Barry) Subbert and Marianne (Pat) Goble. Also, by his brother Jerry Hayes (Kacky) and sister-in-law Sandee (Jerry) Chalupa. Also, his grandchildren Brianna Cousineau, Wade Collins, Nicholas Collins and several nieces and nephews.
