Lorna was born January 12, 1941 in Afton, Wyoming to the late Verona and Jess Lee. She passed away on October 13, 2024 in Kennewick, WA. She was a 1959 graduate of Columbia High School (Richland High School) and a 1963 graduate of Brigham Young University in Business Education. She earned her Master's Degree in Education from University of New Mexico. She married Jerry Conrad Mikkelsen on June 1, 1963, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Temple in Manti, Utah.

She and Jerry were blessed with six wonderful children: Lisa Garcia (husband-Leroy), Heidi Mikkelsen, Jessica McClellan (husband-John), Lorraine Mikkelsen (deceased), Reed Mikkelsen (wife-Elizabeth) and Spencer Mikkelsen.

They have 12 grandchildren; Chloe Alexander, Erin Alexander, Olivia Alexander, Sadie Tengelsen (husband-Jake), Heather Wilson, Matthew Wilson, Megan Wilson (wife-Faith), Emily Mikkelsen, Adam Mikkelsen, Stephen Mikkelsen, David Mikkelsen, and Laura Ogren.

They are also blessed with 4 great-grandchildren; Rosalie Tengelsen, Josh Tengelsen, Charlotte Tengelsen, and Savannah Tengelsen.

When she wasn't at home raising her children, she taught high school in Springville UT, Carlsbad NM, and Pasco, WA. She finished her career as a substitute teacher for Kennewick and Richland from 2001 to 2021. When she could, between kids and work, she traveled with Jerry on his work travels as a purchasing manager. They lived in Utah, Illinois, New York, New Hampshire, Ohio, Massachusetts, Kentucky, Washington, Colorado, New Mexico and finally home to Kennewick, WA again.

Because she loved Jesus Christ and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she served in many church callings. Among these were primary president twice, Relief Society president, den mother, nursery leader, church librarian, secretary, teacher, and chorister. Service was her love language, and she always magnified her calling as a ministering sister. She and her husband loved their 2-year church mission to Durban, South Africa, as well as service missions in the Columbia River, WA temple and in the Bishop's Storehouse.

She enjoyed making quilts, cooking and baking, reading and shopping, especially at local Farmers' Markets. An extrovert, she was always encouraging her family to reach out to each other and spend time together. She is survived by her brother Duane Lee (wife-Eva and children, Tanya and Tiffany ) and her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Oct 24th, 2024 at 5pm in the Buntin LDS Chapel in Kennewick, WA.
