He was our gift for a season. Born March 24, 1986, in Vancouver, Washington, for 22 years Lucas Lowell Jarrett lit up every room with his smile. With a pure heart, Luke's love was real and he lived completely in each moment. He was his mother's salvation, his wife's deepest love and his father's pride. Luke inspired greatness in others without ever realizing the true breadth of his influence. The early years of Luke's life were spent in California where he learned to walk and melt his mother's heart with his smile. After a brief time in Vancouver, Washington, at age 4, Luke and his sister Justine began a new adventure in the Tri-Cities. Luke's family became whole in 1990 when his mother and father met and "knew that it was much more than a hunch." Fate united two families and Luke gained his father, Don Jarrett, sister Kristi and brother David. Luke's childhood was filled with special rocks that lined his coat pockets and quests with Link and Mario to save the princess. He was the kindest of boys and Luke's adolescent years were remarkable for their innocence. He yearned each year to be more like his big brother and developed a love of cars, watches, cigars and anything he could take apart. Though he will be forever young, Luke grew into an accomplished man. After graduating from Richland High School in 2005, he followed in his father's footsteps as a Pipefitter with Local Union 598. Quietly paying his dues as an apprentice, Luke drove back and forth to a full time job near Yakima for a year and a half--all the while attending school two nights per week. To those who worked and studied with Luke, he was a talented fitter with a model work ethic and unmatched wit. Luke purchased a home at age 19 and married his high school sweetheart Cassandra Lee Allen in 2006. Together Luke and Cassie began a life and in 2007 they welcomed their beautiful daughter Jorja Lee Jarrett into the world. Luke was a proud and loving father. No longer able to fight his battle, Luke left this world on October 13, 2008. Luke is survived by his wife Cassandra Jarrett, his 16-month-old daughter Jorja Jarrett, his parents Donald and Heidi Jarrett, his father Greg Buell, his sister and brother-in-law Kristi and Steve McKennon, his brother and sister-in-law David and Michelle Jarrett, his sister Justine Jarrett, his sister Kaitlan Kelly, his grandparents George and Janice Hunter, his grandparents Coy and Velma Jarrett, his grandmother Pauline Buell, two nephews, aunts and uncles as well as countless cousins and friends. Luke, we will treasure your laughter, your brown eyes, your kind spirit and your friendship.
