Marilyn Taylor, born November 4, 1952 to Mary A. Pacios and William V. Taylor, in Stoneham, Massachusetts, passed away March 15, 2023 in Spokane Washington. Marilyn graduated from Humboldt State University, California (now Cal Poly Humboldt), majoring in Mathematics (BA,1983). Marilyn was retired from her work as a systems analyst in the banking industry and had resided in Kennewick, Washington for over 20 years.

As a child and teenager, Marilyn's interests were many and varied: art, music, English and math. Marilyn had a Ford Grant to study ballet, (San Diego Ballet Company School and San Francisco Ballet Company School in California). When her public high school refused to let her ballet classes count for California's gym requirement, Marilyn applied for and received a full scholarship from the College Preparatory School, Oakland, California, which did.

Marilyn was a national class runner, with a plethora of records; her women's record for the Avenue of the Giants Marathon of 2:45:40 (1984), still stands today. Marilyn qualified for and ran in the historical first Women's Olympic Trials (Olympia, Washington (1984). Her running memorabilia has been donated to the Medford Historical Society in her hometown of Medford, Massachusetts.

Marilyn and her beloved horse Tess have participated in events at many horse shows, receiving ribbons in whatever class they entered: showmanship, halter, walk, trot, western and pleasure. Marilyn generously shared use of her registered paint horse Tess with Maggie Elizabeth Little for training and competition in youth events.

A vibrant, generous, and loyal friend with a great sense of humor, Marilyn touched the lives of all who knew her. She was active in many organizations: The Kiwanis Club of The Tri-Cities Industries, 40-something Cowgirls, American Paint Horse Association (APHA), Central Washington Pony Club, Franklin County Saddle Club, El Rancho Reata Community Alliance, RECA Foundation/Tri-Cities Free-net, Lucky Horseshoe 4-H Club. Marilyn fostered dogs through Pet Over Population Prevention (POPP) Tri-Cities. Her volunteer activities are too numerous to list, but she could always be counted on whether it be cleaning up after an event or bell-ringing at Christmas time.

Marilyn found her haven with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. A devoted church member, in addition to her many church activities, Marilyn was the church librarian.

Marilyn is survived by her mother Mary A. Pacios, Portland, Oregon; step-father Clifford C. Humphrey, Truth or Consequences, New Mexico; a sister Janice Taylor, niece Tara Taylor, nephew Devin McDonald and nephew Emilio Garcia, Bay Area, California; her older brother, William Paul Taylor and sister-in-law Brenda Taylor, Berkeley, California; her younger brother Stephen Humphrey Pacios, Kennewick, Washington and sister-out-law Alicia-Pilar "Pia" Mogollón, Tucson, Arizona; niece Karina Tatiana Akouka and nephew-in-law Guillaume Akouka, grandnieces Maelys Lucia Akouka and Zoe Noemie Akouka, Apex, North Carolina; niece Brenda Taylor, grandnephew Christopher Alessandro Taylor, Berkeley, California; nephew Andrées Izak Mogollón-Pacios and niece-in-law Maggie Hale-Mogollón, grandniece Beatrice Mogollón-Hale, Tucson, Arizona, plus a multitude of cousins, notably Janet Kurz, Enumclaw, Washington; John Kurz, Fallsington, Pennsylvania; and Frank Prescott, Oak Grove, Missouri. But Marilyn's family extended far beyond her DNA relatives and includes longtime friends Carlisle Shoemaker, San Bruno, California; Gary Downing, Kennewick, Washington; Karole Goodman, Berkeley, California; Ronda Evans and Bruce McComb, Kennewick, Washington and Susan Schereschewsky, San Diego, California. Marilyn was preceded in death by her father, William Vincent Taylor of Idaho Falls, Idaho.
