Marvin (Marv) L Smith, 79, passed away on July 20, 2013 at home in Kennewick, WA with his wife Nelda at his side. He was born Sept. 12, 1933 in Hamilton, WA to Ray and Ellen Smith. Marv attended elementary school in Marblemount and Concrete, WA, and then moved to Days Creek, OR to finish high school. He went from high school into the Army, Special Forces Green Beret, with three tours in Vietnam. Upon returning stateside, he then taught Survival, retiring with 20 years of service. During retirement years he worked as a carpenter at fort Lewis, and various other locations. Marv enjoyed golf, bowling, and music. During his years in the Army he had formed a band and was the lead singer. He also enjoyed singing with other bands later as well. He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Ellen Smith, sister Virginia Smith, brother Mel Smith, son Steve Smith and daughter Kim Smith. He is survived by his wife Nelda Daves-Smith; brother Richard Smith; daughters Vicki (Steve) Ham, Pam (Tommy) Macon; son Mike (Myrna) Smith; step-daughters Carla (Nolan) Harkness and Laine Gardinier; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as extended family. We will all keep loving and missing him forever. Graveside Military Honor services will be held at the Hamilton, WA cemetery at 1:00 pm Sept. 14, 2013.
