Mary Elinor Shoop, age 82, of Kennewick, WA, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, in Pasco. She was born on October 16, 1942, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Rutherford and Elinor Snyder.

Mary was the beloved wife of the late Bruce Shoop, whom she married on July 12, 1980. They shared a beautiful life together in the Tri-Cities, where they settled in 1980.

Mary dedicated her career to education, working as a paraeducator for the Kennewick School District until her retirement. She was passionate about nurturing growth—both in young minds and in gardens. A proud Master Gardener, she generously gave her time and heart to her community through various organizations, including PEO, Project Linus, and her church home, Kennewick First United Methodist Church, where she was a faithful member.

Her interests were as rich and colorful as her quilts. Mary loved quilting, gardening, fruit gleaning, card games, dominos and board games, and could often be found with a good book in hand. She had a special place in her heart for Gonzaga Basketball, loved traveling and spending time outdoors, and truly embraced life's simple joys.

Mary is survived by her children: Matthew Shoop, Heather Ramirez, and KerryAnn Collins; and her beloved grandchildren: Ethan and Emily Collins; Alexa, Nicholas, and Emilia Ramirez; and Marina Shoop. Her sister Beatrice Walton; nieces: Lisa Rose, Dana Rose and Joelle Rose-Gile; and great nieces and nephews: Seth and Zach Stephenson; and Ayla, Bryson and Calum Gile.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bruce Shoop, her brother John, and her parents Rutherford and Elinor Snyder.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Kennewick First United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Mary's memory.

Mary will be remembered for her loving spirit, tireless generosity, and the warmth she brought to every room. Her legacy of kindness, service, and joy will live on in all who had the honor of knowing her.
