Mattie Mae Sims, age 85, of Pasco Washington, passed away at home on November 28, 2024.

Mattie was born in Waynesboro, Mississippi to the late Ollie Gamblin Sr. and Essie Mae Gamblin on March 30, 1939. She moved to Pasco in her early teens and graduated from Pasco High School. Years later she married Willie Sims Sr., to whom six children were born. She was a member of St. James C.M.E. Church.

During her early years of employment, Mattie was employed as a preschool teacher at the St. James C.M.E Church. Later, she became a nuclear chemical technologist working in this classification until her retirement in the late 90's. Mattie's talents were many, she was an accomplished knitter, crocheter and quilter, as well as an avid fisherwoman and excellent gardener. As a cook, Mattie was second to none.

Mattie is preceded in death by her mother Essie Mae Osborn, Father Ollie Gamblin Sr., husband Willie Sims, Sr. and daughter Elinda Griffin, as well as her brothers Curtis Gamblin, Ollie Gamblin and Jimmie Gamblin. She leaves to mourn sons Linton(Shawn) of Pasco, WA, Daniel, of Pasco, WA, Willie Jr, of Pasco, WA, Victyrone, of West Richland, WA and daughter Gertha (Steve Lassiter) of Renton, WA, Brothers Benny Hughley, of Pasco, WA and James Osborn(Cathy) of Pasco, WA.

Mattie will also leave to mourn her 17 grandchildren, 17 great granchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Those we lose don't go away..... They walk beside us every day.
