Obituary

Maxine Reed died on November 17, 2022, in Kennewick, WA, at the age of 105. She was born on April 14, 1917, in Walla Walla, WA, to Charles and Amy Walter. She lived through the 1918 influenza and Covid-19 pandemics.

Maxine was cherished for her amusing tales and memorable one-liners. She recalled playing on the grounds of Whitman Mission as a kid, and how her mother would serve biscuits to Native American children who peeked through the windows at her home. The availability of sliced bread in stores was a particularly exciting memory she shared. Maxine was a homemaker with a talent for embroidery and ceramics, and she loved to travel. Maxine drove her own car until the age of 100, typically to her bank's drive-thru where her fans graciously made cash withdrawal easy for her. Her longevity is thanks to bacon and Fritos. She spent her days watching westerns and receiving visits from her loving family. Maxine stood for resilience and enjoyed her well-deserved independence.

Maxine is survived by her children James (Sally) Reed; Jerry (Anna) Sargent; and Shirley Warner; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Her husband Donald and son Daniel preceded her in death. We thank Parkview Estates for their care of our Maxine.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 1 pm at City View Cemetery in Pasco, WA.
