Maxine F. Sawada, age 92, passed away on December 8, 2024, in Richland, WA. She was born on January 27, 1932, in Ogden, Utah, to her parents, Chie and Asashichi Kataoka.

Maxine spent the past 35 years living in the Tri-Cities, where she built a life filled with love, creativity, and family. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and gardening, with a special passion for growing flowers. She also loved fishing, listening to the music of Josh Groban, and most of all, spending time with her beloved grandchildren and family.

Maxine is survived by her sisters, Ruth Nishioka of Boise, ID, and Shirley Kong of San Jose, CA; her son, Carey (Cyndi) Sawada; her grandchildren, Brenton (Amanda) Gibbs, Kristin (Andres) Martinez, and Travis Sawada; and her great-grandchildren, Hunter Dean, Isabella, and Cooper Gibbs, as well as Jaedyn, Kaiya, Eli, and Issak Martinez.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Seiji Sawada; her brothers, Arthur, Charles, and William Kataoka; and her sister, Lilly Hayano.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Maxine's memory.

Maxine's love for her family, her hobbies, and the simple joys of life will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.
