Michael Dean Hagler was a son, a father and a grandfather. He was born Mar 26 1947 in Murphysboro, Jackson, Illinois, to Ruby Jean Wills and Charles Edward Hagler. He was the eldest of 4, Judy Coleen b 7/11/1951, Bruce Edward b 7/15/1954 and Donald Eugene b 1/26/1956. In 1955 the family along with the grandparents moved to Seattle, WA for better job opportunities.

While growing up, Mike was very involved in sports. In baseball he was a catcher and played in the little league in West Seattle. He played basketball at Chief Sealth High School and was an all-star on the football team. His mom put her foot down and said, "you must decide on one sport you can't work part time, go to school and play all the sports." So he chose football. He worked at Sears, when it was downtown Seattle at the loading dock, bringing in the merchandise. During breaks he would study and do homework. He graduated in 1964 and had a football scholarship for Shoreline Community College but was not happy with the coach. He was about ready to drop out, but Uncle Sam had other ideas. He was drafted and into the Army he went.

He did basic at Fort Lewis, then went to Fort Hood in Texas for advanced Infantry training for 2 years. In this process was married then off to Vietnam. They had 2 children, Michael Dean Jr, affectionately called Mickey and Carol Jean nicked named Carrie or Care Bear. Sadly Carrie passed away Aug 2024.

After his release from the Army, he went back to Sears while waiting for an opening at the Seattle Police Dept. He finally was hired in1970, worked there for 15 years and had to retire from a disability due to a back injury. In the middle of that time, he divorced then was introduced to Sue by her brother-in-law. On their first date they saw 3 Days of the Condor with Robert Redford. They later married in 1977 and had 2 children, Kevin Ernest in1979 and Lindsay Rochelle in 1986.

Mike was very involved with Kevin in sports, first Little League Baseball, then in basketball and football. Mike coached baseball and the football through high school with Kevin. During this time Mike worked at a Credit Union then was laid off. It was the summer of 1998, Sue was exited. Kevin would have been home alone Mickey and Carrie were out on their own. Sue would have a house to come home to. Mike was now Mr. Mom.

In 2003 Sue retired from the phone company. They were planning on RVing and traveling across the U.S. but life had other plans. Kevin had a little girl and needed grandpa and grandma to watch Alyza while he worked and went to school. Lindsay had moved to Kennewick and wanted them nearby so off mom and dad went to help their little girl.

They found a house in Kennewick 2004 and have been there since. It was pretty good for a while until on July 5, 2018, Kevin had a dissected aorta. Thanks to Lindsay's care giving training she helped in Kevin's recovery for 3 years, sadly she passed away July 4, 2020 then 6 months later in March 2021, Kevin passed away.

Mike had been diagnosed with type II diabetes in 2005 and due to agent orange while in Vietnam there were other health issues, heart problems, sleep apnea and PTSD. In 2024 his health began to deteriorate and he was in and out of emergency and in the hospital a couple of times.

Mike is survived by his wife Sue, eldest Granddaughter Alyza, next Brayden, Richard and Betty Sue (Kevin's) and Magdelena (Lindsay's) being raised now by Sue.

Sue And Mike had 47 beautiful years. Through the good and the bad they stood together, hand in hand, they supported each other.

Funeral Services will be on Friday, February 14, 2025 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints, 820 S. Buntin St., Kennewick, WA. Viewing: 10:00 am-11:00 am followed by a funeral services at 11:00am.
