Michael David Lack, 77 years old of Redding, California passed away at home on November 22, 2021. Michael was born on May 14, 1944, in Redding, California to Frank and Helen (Smith) Lack. He grew up and resided in the Redding area most of his life. He was a Sergeant in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. Michael was a heavy equipment operator and Job Superintendent for J. F. Shea Road Construction where he retired in 2004. Michael was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He and Susan served a mission for the Church in St. Cloud, Florida at the Deseret Cattle Ranch. Mike was a very generous person whether paying for a meal or giving gifts to friends and family in need. One of Mike's famous sayings was: "Let's get to it." It applied to chores, work, travel, and whatever task was at hand. Mike was a man of many talents: construction, ranching, all aspects of building, hunting, and cooking. His knowledge, and willingness to share it, will be missed. He loved livestock and horses; if there were do-overs in life he would surely have been a rancher. Mike was a well-traveled man. He loved to see deer and elk on the side of the road while traveling, scaring passengers to death with a sudden slamming of the brakes and a loud "There" indicating another sighting. He knew every freeway, two-lane road, dirt road, and trail in the west. He was always ready to jump in the truck and go see them one more time, especially if there was a good burger involved. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan, his parents, and his daughter, Virginia. Mike is survived by daughters (Rachel, Jody, Pamela, and Robin), grandchildren (Falyn, David, Jesse, and Karen), great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
