Michael "Mike" Earl McCullough, 66, of Kennewick, WA, died peacefully, surrounded by family on May 23, 2015. Mike was born January 15, 1949, in Pasco, WA, to Earl and Gloria (Keyes) McCullough, and was raised by his grandparents, Faith and Walter Keyes. Mike married Sheryl Kerr in 1971, after serving a mission to Germany for the LDS church. Upon graduating from BYU, Mike began a distinguished, 21-year career in the US Air Force as a B-52 bomber pilot, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Mike's greatest joy in life was serving others: his family, singing in and leading choirs, and his faith- especially serving in the Columbia River Temple. As illness closed one door, he would find another way to serve. His example of courage, faith, optimism, and humor were an inspiration to all. Michael is survived by his wife, Sheryl Kerr McCullough of Kennewick, and his daughters and daughter-in-law, Jennifer (Jay) Andersen, Preston, ID, Melissa (Lewis) Earl, Medical Lake, Kristine (Paul) Claybrook, Kennewick, and Jennifer Embree McCullough (Glen) Evans, Rigby, ID. Mike is also survived by a devoted extended family who have been an immeasurable support and comfort during his prolonged illness, mother-in-law Joyce Kerr; brothers and sister-in-law Leland (Nancy) Kerr; Patricia (Steve) Jones; Douglas (Jeanne) Kerr; Bruce (Renee) Kerr; and John (Brenda) Kerr. Mike was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Patricia Kirkendahl and his children, Michael and Sara. A service honoring his life will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, May 28, at the Hansen Park Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 8120 4th Ave in Kennewick, WA.
