Noreen Joy Howell Mack was born Thanksgiving day November 24, 1938 to Barbara Noreen Disney Howell and Comrad Rice Howell in Rexburg, Idaho. 6 and 8 years later, she gained two bratty little brothers (whom she loved) Orlen and Adrian, but remained forever the apple of her daddy's eye. Noreen grew up on a chicken ranch in San Jose, California and graduated from Campbell High School. On Monday February 4, 1957, she married her high school sweetheart "Jimmy" / our Dad James Arthur Mack for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Noreen promptly earned her "putting-hubby-through-college" degrees as her efforts ensured that our father completed his bachelors and masters degrees and she later supported all of her kids in their college efforts. Upon graduation, our dad's work at Shasta College took them to Redding, CA where they lived for 35 years raising their 7 beautiful, smart, kind and hilarious children (Dave, Debi, Adie, Jeanie, Mike, Suzi and Jon) and many bonus kids. In 1999, they retired to Central Point, Oregon where mom loved serving in the temple and traveling the world with our dad. For the last 15 years, Mom lived in Kennewick, WA where she continued her life missions of temple and service work. Since our Dad's death in 2014, we are forever grateful to the "Golden Girls" (Mom, Kaye, Donna, and Kathy) took care of each other and went on many adventures together.

On June 5, 2025, at the age of 86 our mom passed away at home from lymphoma so happy to return to her God, her Savior, her Jimmy and many other loved ones including her parents and two grandchildren (Rosana and Mikey). Our mom hated fake flattery and was the first person to be harshest about herself. The honest to goodness truth is that our mother was unconvinced of her goodness and unstoppable in her desire to "be good and do her best". She spent her life giving away her time in service including revamping the Bonnyview library, helping people with their genealogy and family history; working in the distribution center, storehouse and temples; and serving in church. She was a remarkably hard worker with so many skills and was not a great high school student. Our mom was a terrible cook but canned the best berry jam during Redding summers with no air conditioning. If your heart hurt, she struggled to be there because it made her heart hurt. If your body hurt, she was a skilled diagnostician and fierce medical advocate. She struggled to have children in her younger years and cranked out the "three little kids" at ages 38, 39, and 41. As a grandma, she was remarkably intuitive with babies and often befuddled with older children. She loved our dad for 57 years and found him frequently frustrating. At the same time that she stepped on toes with her honesty, people loved and respected her for it. She blessed so many people in big and small ways as evidenced by the 5 million people who called, texted, visited, video called, and sent cards showering our mom with love during her 16 months on hospice care. The moment our mom passed through the veil she no doubt was shocked with a clarity of her goodness and worth. We are so happy that our mom has finally received the one thing she has always wanted… peace forever. We love you Mom.

A Viewing will be  held on Sunday, June 8, 2025, from 6pm-8pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Hansen Park Building) Kennewick, Washington. Graveside Services will be on Monday, June 16, 2025 ~ 10am at the Millville Cemetery, Millville, California.
