Norva Lee Tate was born Nov. 29, 1939 to Rallis and Cinderella Brooks in Queen City, Texas. The family relocated to Pasco in 1954 where she attended Pasco High School. Upon graduation Norva met and married Wilson Tate. To this union 6 children were born. Soon after becoming a grandparent, Norva reared up seven of her grandchildren as her own. Norva got her foster care license and was able to help in her community. Norva furthered her education by attending Modern Business College and CBC. Norva worked outside the home for Dr. Glen V. Axford for a short time before going to work for PNNL as Senior Chemical Technologist. Norva was an active member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church until her health began to decline. Norva was very active as an usher. She also sang in the church choir and was a member of the Pastor's Aide Committee for New Hope. Norva was also very active in the Tri-State District Baptist Association Ushers and the General Baptist Convention of the Northwest Ushers. Norva loved God and people. Norva had a giving and loving heart and she took very good care of her family. Norva always believed in a beautiful home inside and out. She had many pictures of family and friends that were enjoyed by all who would visit her. Norva's yard was always looking good. She loved to be in her yard cleaning and planting flowers which she truly loved. When Mama's health started to decline, special thanks to Chris, LaVaine, KaSandra, Alicia and Xyrus for stepping up to make sure Mama was taken care of. Norva leaves to cherish her precious memories daughter, Marian (Dennis) Odom; son Christopher Tate; grandchildren, Taylor Jr. (Angie) Groce, LaVaine (Tiana), Bernard "Ray" Raulins, Christopher Bryson, KaSandra "Shree", Alicia, Renee C. Tate, Tybierrius, Jacquetta and Avery (Dalila) Woods, Kwame, Kynen, KaShon, ShaKia Milam, Kyla and Dennis Jr. Odom; 26 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, brothers Willie, Robert and Ray Brooks; sister Geneva Beasley; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; Norva's goddaughters La'Vette Ash, Sharon Straws, and she was a special person to Michelle Jackson. Norva also leaves to cherish memories her special friends Beulah Green, Lavern Baker, Rev. Jeanette Sparks and Theola Sparks. Norva is preceded in death by her husband; parents, son Herbert, three daughters Myra, Jacqueline Woods and Baby Girl Tate; grandson Parish; brothers Rayfield and Eugene Brooks; brother-in-law J.C. Beasley; sisters -in-law Lula, Jamie, and Judy Brooks.
