Raymundo "Dok Ray" Salcedo Ablaza, 58, of Kennewick, Washington, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, WA.
He was born on November 22, 1966, in Manila, Philippines, to Cesar M. Ablaza and Carmelita S. Ablaza. Dok Ray was a devoted Roman Catholic and a proud graduate of Roxas High School (Class of 1983). He earned his degree in Veterinary Medicine from Araneta University in 1989 and passed the board examination.
Dok Ray had a successful career as a veterinarian, working at Monkey Reserved Farm in Calamba, Laguna, and serving as a Veterinarian Inspector at the Quezon City Health Department for over a decade. After moving to the United States, he lived here for 23 years, working at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, WA, Bay 101 Casino in San Jose, CA, and The Forum Retirement Community in Cupertino, CA.
He was a devoted son and loving younger brother to his five siblings. Known for his kindness, generosity, gentlemanly ways, ever-present smile, and sense of humor, Dok Ray touched the lives of everyone he met. He loved caring for doves in his youth, socializing with family and friends, traveling, visiting beaches and resorts, and swimming-one of his favorite pastimes.
Dok Ray is survived by: Cesar S. Ablaza Jr., Rosario & Mike Horhota, Maria Lynne & Douglas Conklin, Theresa & Gil Balasan, Vern Norviel, Michael, Thuy-Vy & Aspen Ablaza, Brian Ablaza, Patrick Balasan, Erica Balasan, Lorna Salcedo, Bong Salcedo, and his beloved dogs Max, Kisher, and Trixie. He is preceded in death by: His parents Cesar & Carmelita Ablaza, sister Sylvia A. Norviel, grandparents Judge Julian & Simplicia Salcedo and Severino & Igi Ablaza, uncle Ramon Salcedo, and aunts Antonietta & Veronica Salcedo.
Public Viewing will take place Friday, September 5, 2025 at Einan's at Hillcrest - Kennewick (9353 W. Clearwater Ave., Kennewick, WA, 99336) from 1:00 pm-5:00 pm with a Rosary at 3:00 pm.
Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held in the Small Church at St. Joseph's Church (506 S. Garfield St., Kennewick, WA, 99336) on Saturday, September 6, 2025, Rosary at 10:15am and Mass at 11 am. Burial will take place immediately following at Riverview Heights Cemetery (1200 S. Olympia St. Kennewick, WA, 99337).
Dok Ray's warmth, humor, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed. His family and friends will always remember his generosity, smile, and the joy he brought into every life he touched.
