Russell "Butch" Lee Gutmann, 84, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026.

Russell "Butch" was born on November 15, 1941, in Pasco, Washington, to Russell and Myrtle Gutmann. A lifelong resident of the Tri-Cities area, he built a life rooted in hard work, love for his family, and an appreciation for the simple joys that brought him happiness.

Russell dedicated many years of his career to Boise Cascade Paper, where he worked as a maintenance electrician. He took great pride in his work and was known by those around him for his steady reliability, strong work ethic, and uncanny ability to fix just about anything. Outside of work, Russell found joy in woodworking, spending time on the golf course, and playing softball—always happiest when keeping busy and doing what he loved.

On August 18, 1963, Russell married the love of his life, Darlene. Together they shared a lifetime of love, devotion, and cherished memories, building a family that was always at the center of Russell's world.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Darlene Gutmann; his children, Lori & Jeff Blanc (Walla Walla) and Hans & Leah Gutmann (Sammamish); his five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who brought him so much pride and joy; and his brother, Dale Gutmann (Pasco), and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Myrtle Gutmann, his sister Margaret Hartmeier and brother-in-law Don Hartmeier.

A service to celebrate Russell's life will be held on August 8th, 2026, from 2pm-4pm at Zintel Creek Golf Club, 314 N. Underwood St., Kennewick, WA 99336
