Sandra "Sandy" Maria Schut was born to Jim and Phyllis Schut on December 29, 1950 in Prosser, WA. She passed peacefully in her sleep, aged 73 years. Within her first year of life, she was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy (CP). CP disability played a defining role in her life but did not hold her back from enjoying a vibrant life! In her youth, Sandy attended remedial education classes at Hoover Elementary School, Yakima, WA. During this period, she gained her second family the Wegeleben's, Harry, Ruth and children; with whom she lived with and loved dearly. After graduating, in the early 70's she moved to Tri-Cities, WA where she began her career with Goodwill Industries. A steadfast worker was a prevailing character trait of Sandy's and after 40+ years in 2020, she retired.

Sandy enjoyed a lively time outdoors; camping, rafting, and playing cards annually at the family cabin in Naches, WA. She loved to win but when she didn't, she enjoyed a good banter with fellow card enthusiasts! Sandy loved to travel, initially independently and in later years with a companion.

Riverview Baptist Church, Pasco, WA sadly lost a faithful parishioner of 40 years. Sandy was passionate about sharing the love of the Lord with others. Sandy prioritized participation in her faith community--a loyal servant of God, Sandy enjoyed worship music, and building community wherever she went.

Sandy accumulated vital roles and accolades with committee's she was passionate about, including: The Special Olympics Inc. (SOI), Washington State Developmental Disability Administration (DDA), Tri-Cities Residential Services (TCRS), and Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS). She was a SOI participant for 30 years! She regularly flew independently to Olympia, WA to advocated for the disabled community; to transform lives by creating partnerships that empower people. She lives within all those for she has represented. Her love, wisdom, and compassion live on in the community. She is celebrated for 40 years of TCRS board member service. TCRS named a conference room after Sandy, which she was very proud of! Her family is grateful for the years of individual care TCRS provided for Sandy, thank you!

Sandra joins her father James W. Schut and brother Steven J. Schut in heaven. Sandra is survived by her mother Phyllis Schut, sister and brother-in-law Sherry and Joe Gonzalez, niece and husband Marisa and Daniel Parr, niece and husband Lauren and Jim Weedmark, nephew's Michael Gonzalez, Christian Schut, Mathew Schut and a plethora of great-nieces, nephews and chosen family she collected over her life. Now that Sandy has passed into the arms of the Lord, her physical life on earth is over but it is the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for her.

Sandy's Memorial will be held at Riverview Baptist Church: 4900 W Richardson Rd Pasco, WA 99301 on Tuesday March 26th, 2024 followed by a luncheon in the fellowship hall . In leu of flowers, the family request donations be held to American Heart Association.
