Steven "Steve" Ted McCowan, 59, of Richland passed away on December 15, 2015 at his home.
Steve was born on June 29, 1956 in Walla Walla, WA to Ivan and Lavina (Sullivan) McCowan. He was raised in the Tri Cities. As a young man Steve began playing drums, a passion he carried with him his entire life. He played for many local groups then moved to Seattle in the late 70's. He continued to play in bands. In the late 1980's he founded Protex Paint, a contract painting company. He successfully operated the company for 15 years. He returned to the Tri Cities in 2005 where again he found success as a business consultant and a multi-level marketer. Throughout his life Steve had a passion for family, friends, music and business. He was a true "foodie", an exceptional cook and always enjoyed fine dining. He was driven in life, wanting to be the best he could in everything he did. He enjoyed traveling for his work and taking time with friends and family. He will be remembered as a loving father and brother and a loyal friend.
Steve is survived by his daughter Nicole McCowen of Las Vegas, NV, son Cory McCowan of Seattle; and Janna Lux of Seattle; brother, Don McCowan of Phoenix, AZ; and sisters Kay Hande of Silverton, OR and Jan Box of Seattle.
Steve's life will be celebrated at a later date when it "warms up a little".
