On Friday, January 26, 2024, after a long 12-year battle with breast cancer, Tangitangiae Alamoni Tuaolo Choice passed on into heaven. She was 55 years old. At the time of her passing, she was surrounded by family and close friends as she peacefully left us. Tangi was born on September 7, 1968, and she was the fifth child of eight children, born to Maliuga and Fakatoumafi Tuaolo. She was born and raised in the Pacific Islands of American Samoa. With a multitude of relatives in and between American Samoa, Tonga and Hawaii, there was nothing but love and joy that made her the incredible person that she was. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Latu and Tangitangiae Sevelo, her parents Maliuga and Fakatoumafi Tuaolo, a brother Punefu Tuaolo, and a sister Lotoleaga Emelio.

Left to cherish her memory is her devoted husband of 30 years, Robert Choice, and their four beautiful daughters. Tiffany & (Kamilla) Merritt, Elizabeth Choice, Erma & (Duke) Kouta, and the youngest, Erliza & (Jonathan) Miranda. As a bonus daughter Pitovaomanaia & (Adrianna) Marrero. Tangi is also survived by her granddaughter, Rosalie Diayelana Tangitangi Kouta, and a bonus grandson, Adriel Presley Marrero, as well as her siblings: Pouuamea Tuaolo Supapo, Sina Tuaolo, Lemau (JV) Vasquez, Latu Tuaolo and Maliuga (Edna) Tuaolo. In keeping with the Pacific Islander tradition, Tangi and Robert expanded their family by adding and welcoming favorite nieces, Jovanalynn Timo, Fialauia Mauga, and Margie Fiapaipai Migi. She is also survived by a large host of family, relatives and friends.

Growing up in a Pacific Islander family, Tangi's childhood was enriched not only by her biological family but also by numerous island families, which are too numerous to name. Tangi was raised in the Catholic church. She loved and was always faithful to the church and to God. She married Robert Choice April 27, 1993. As a member of the Air Force, they frequently moved around the country. All the while, she was fiercely dedicated and served the church no matter where those military moves would lead. (You could move her, but you could not move her from her faith!)

Tangi entered the workforce and for the majority of her career, she worked in accounting with various companies. Several years prior to her retiring she worked as a Transportation Security Officer (TSO) for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Department of Homeland Security. This job became her favorite due to the meaningful connections she forged with people, especially her TSA family.

She had a deep love of family, her husband, daughters and especially her granddaughter was the jewels of her heart. Despite her own family, Tangi also had a great love of people. Always going the extra mile to be a part of whatever needed to be done or to help out someone in need. To make a meaningful connection with Tangi, was no easy task, because she always said things the way she saw it or just tell it like it is! However, once you made that connection, that connection was a bound for life. Just ask her TSA friends and the close-knit Pacific Island Community here in the Tri-Cities, they can attest to that. This community is more like family that includes people like Vea & Neta Taimani, Joe & Alice Fung Chen Penn, Tafe & Terisa Alo, Charles & Maggie Aikala, along with their families. Last but not least, her very best friend and confidant of all, Steven Posiano. Just to name a few.

Tangi will be missed tremendously, but she will not be forgotten. She will be impaled in the hearts of those she knew and loved Forever. We are grateful that God allowed her to be a part of our lives, if only for a little while. Rest in peace Tangi and enjoy your time praising the Son and our Heavenly Father. Tangi's family will have a Celebration of Life gathering for her at their home on Saturday, February 3 2024 at 2 o'clock p.m.
