Tanner Oakes Killian, age 35, passed away at his home on September 4th, 2024. He was born at Lady of Lourdes Hospital on July 3, 1989. The next evening, he and his mom watched the 4th of July fireworks from their hospital room window. As Tanner grew up, he sparkled, just like those fireworks. He was always smiling and providing his mom, dad and brothers with entertainment through his hilarious stories, zest for life, interest in sports; particularly baseball, playing guitar, creating music, sharing his nonstop energy and contagious laugh. How we'll miss his laugh! In his early years, he participated in Boy Scouts, and church activities. He loved his leaders, teachers and fellow scouts and students. He loved family trips to Seattle Mariners games as well as to the Oregon and Washington coast and getting together with extended family. The ocean and the Mariners stadium were his happy place throughout his whole life. He had an interest in Sports Medicine and took the Sports Medicine program his Sophomore and junior years of high school. His junior and senior years he also attended Tri-Tech Skills Center in Kennewick and completed his two year welding certification in one year. His work was thorough and of excellent quality. He was featured in the Tri Tech advertising video for his good work. He had the goal of someday becoming an underwater welder. He enjoyed playing poker with his brothers and more recently started brushing up on his chess game. Tanner graduated from Southridge High School, Kennewick, Washington, in 2007. He almost immediately landed a job at Genie Industries in Moses Lake, Washington, welding Genie lifts. He met and married Taisha Haines March 21, 2009. On October 18, 2010, the light of his life was born, his daughter, Grae Leigh Killian. He was a wonderful father and was kind, gentle and patient with her always. He and Grae could be found telling funny stories, playing Mario Kart and Zelda, playing outside in the sandbox, wading pool, tree house, practicing tee ball, and playing guitar and make believe together. Tanner was happy to play any part from Grae's favorite movies. His great purpose in life was being Grae's Dad. Tanner loved doing anything with his brothers and looked so forward to brothers' time. They all took such great care of each other. Tanner was an avid Seattle Mariners fan. He had a hard time waiting for spring and the season opener of Major League Baseball. He knew all things baseball. When his parents had questions about the Mariners, they knew he would have the answer. Recently, he told his cousins and uncles that the Seattle Mariners just needed one big win to get back on track. The evening he passed away, the team won 16-3. His family would like to think he and his big brother, Preston, were Angels in the Outfield. Rest now our gentle giant. We love you and miss you more than you could have ever imagined. We are honored to call you son, grandson, brother, cousin, nephew and friend. Tanner was preceded in death by his brother, Preston Rey Killian, uncles, Gordon Killian and James Kersikofski, paternal grandfather L. Dennis Killian and Maternal grandparents Leonard and LaWana Marble. He is survived by his precious daughter, Grae Leigh Killian, parents, Spence and Lisa Killian, brothers, Austin and Baydn Killian, paternal grandmother, Donna Killian and numerous beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 5:00-8:00 at Hillcrest Funeral and Cremation. Tanner's funeral will be held at the Kennewick, Washington Buntin Building of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. Interment will be at Riverview Heights Cemetery.
