Walter Alvin E. Swain, our beloved Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather, went to Jesus on September 19, 2006, in Pasco, WA while his daughter Mary was by his side. Born June 30, 1945 in Philadelphia, PA, Walt served in the US Army in the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars and Commendation Medal, all for heroism and valor above and beyond the call of duty. He worked for Septa Transportation, Truck Driver and then worked for United States Postal Service as a Tractor Trailer Operator for over 9 years, he received two awards for his Special Achievements. Walt moved to Pasco, WA about 4 years ago to live closer to his children and grandchildren. Walt belonged to a Yacht Club, The Kosmos Konnector, and Hunting and Fishing clubs. Walt leaves behind his children and their families: daughter, Mary Simmons, with grandson Doug of Kennewick, WA; daughter Christina Gilligan and husband Rodney with grandchildren Josh, Jordon and Nicole and great-granddaughter Kodi of Kennewick, WA; son Walter Kenneth Swain of Milton-Freewater, OR with grandchildren Sarah and Linda of Richland, WA. All who have been touched by his love and laughter will miss Walt. He loved being stubborn, joking, fishing, hunting, dancing and being on a yacht. Memorial Services will be held at First Baptist Church, 3700 W. 27th Ave, in Kennewick, WA on Saturday, October 21, 2006 at 1:00 pm. Any donations can be made to First Baptist Church. At a later date we will be releasing him to the East Coast to celebrate his life and fulfill his dreams.
